Job Description:
A Cafe Manager at Steady Eddy's Coffee House would be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the cafe, including managing staff, inventory, and customer service, while ensuring accountability for cafe standards and business goals. Some specific essential duties & responsibilities may include:

Hiring, training, and supervising staff

The ideal candidate for this role would have previous experience in management and customer service, as well as knowledge of food service operations and regulations. Strong leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the ability to think on their feet and make quick decisions are also essential.

Steady Eddy's Coffee House is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cafe Manager to join our team. Our cafe is a well-established and beloved community spot, known for our delicious coffee, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere. We are looking for someone who can help us continue to provide excellent service and maintain our reputation as a go-to spot for coffee lovers in downtown Winters.

Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of experience in a management role in a coffee shop or similar food service establishment

Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and lead a team

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet

Knowledge of food service operations and regulations

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Strong financial management skills

Familiarity with online collaboration and organization tools including Google Docs

Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Compensation:

Hourly: $23/per hour based on 52 weeks in a year.

Schedule: Minimum Hours: 40 hours a week. Expectation is you work until the job is done.

Please clock in still so we can track progress and hours. We will review salary each month end. If we see you working consistently over 40 hours, we can meet to discuss more.

Cafe Manager shall work 5 days a week minimum, including one weekend shift.This is not negotiable.

Time off requests need to be made 2 weeks in advance and approved as long as you have coverage.

Events need to be scheduled by you. Please arrange your schedule for weeks of events so that you are present for 8 hours the day before and the day of the event.

Paid time off- Must be requested in an email and via Homebase app (employee scheduling app) if you want to use the PTO time to get paid.

You will accrue PTO after 1 year of employment with the company: Accrued paid time to equal 40 hours a week.

You will accrue 24 hours of paid sick time a year per CA law..

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CAFE MANAGER
At least 85% of the managers time is spent on the floor. This time should be used to demonstrate leadership, provide feedback, and ensure retail operations run smoothly. Demonstrating leadership includes effectively setting up shifts for success, managing clearly throughout the day, and effectively using management materials. Providing feedback should be a constant habit the cafe manager curates within him/herself to create a general culture of feedback. Feedback should be direct, timely, and both given and received without negatively affecting morale. This aspect of the culture is one of the most important when implementing change and hitting his/her goals within the company.
PROJECT MANAGER
​
Throughout the year the cafe manager will be responsible for several key projects’ implementations. These include, but are not limited to, menu changes, community events participation, retail set changes, and implementing operation improvements. The ability to plan effectively and delegate essential tasks is key to ensuring these projects accomplish the objective while finishing on time. The cafe manager is a very organized and effective planner. This skill is also essential for communicating new coffee arrivals in an engaging manner, and creating a system for communication on a regular basis with staff.
