Welcome to Steady Eddy’s!

Steady Eddy’s, located in Historic Downtown Winters, is a small family owned coffee shop named after the friendly cat that previously lived beneath the building. Over eight years ago, your favorite little coffee shop has shifted owners to Jamell (Mel) and Carla Wroten, who had the pleasure of serving their community.

Jamell (Mel) and Carla have lived in Winters since 2010 with their 3 children, Carmella (11), Gianna (9), and David Jamell or Dj (6).

The couple share in their town’s passion for quality local food and drink. Carla and Mel have 25+ years of experience in the food industry, and love being a part of downtown Winters. In keeping to their promise to the community, they use fresh and local ingredients and Master Roaster, Mel Wroten, roasts all of the coffee for the shop's daily needs!

Carla and Mel support local events and groups like Tractor Parade, Albarino Wine Streoll, Coffee Fest (which they hosted two years in a row), as well as non-profits: Winters Athletics Boosters ClWinters PTA, Rotary Club, Winters Education Foundation, Winters Friends of the Library, and the Winters Chamber of Commerce, and more! Carla enjoys doing the social media marketing for the shop and connecting with the locals.

OUR BACKGROUND

We are meant to be here!

Carla Wroten has a business and environmental background as the current Safety and Training Director of CAL INC and CALINC Training, LLC since 2003! She specializes in environmental and safety compliance on construction job sites in California. Carla is CDPH Certified as a Lead-Based Paint Supervisor and is the Training Director of EPA, Cal/OSHA, CDPH, and REHS Training Accreditation Programs.

Jamell Wroten grew in up in the restaurant scene since he tuned 16 and was a Certified Bar Trainer for Chevy's Tex Mex for over 10 years. He left Mary's Pizza Shack in Dixon, CA, when the opportunity of owning a coffee shop knocked on his door. He was working at the time when former owner, approached him about selling "only to Jamell (Mel)." The former owner, Jack, wished to pass on the shop to someone that would care and serve the community. We are forever grateful of this opportunity and we do not take it for granted!
